Torres: “Spain vs England perfect World Cup final”

by george

Spanish striker Fernando Torres believes that England has one of the best line ups coming to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, definitely able to go all the way this time. Torres that plays for Premier League club Liverpool is basically giving his support to the country where he currently makes hid bread from, saying that England’s national team is only second to Spain of course.

“A World Cup 2010 final between Spain and England would be ideal. Experts believe that Spain has the best 11 players in the starting line up, but if you look England closely they have the second strongest team in the world. John Terry and Rio Ferdinand are two of the best defenders out there, Gerrard is simply the best midfielder on the planet, and of course Wayne Rooney is a world-class goal scorer.” Torres also spoke about England’s psychological problems during the final stages in major tournaments. “They could overcome their mental barrier, coach Fabio Capello is definitely helping the team’s overall psychology.”

Fernando Torres that recently went through knee surgery is currently having a race against time to be 100% ready before the 2010 World Cup. The player was criticised by English media and fans on his decision to finish his season with Liverpool early instead of waiting until the end to fix his knee problem, because he would rather play in the World Cup tournament. Now Torres is probably talking up England’s national football team in order to score some points in the Premiership.
