Cameroon versus Denmark is the third game scheduled for Group E in the 2010 World Cup, with both teams looking to score some points today in Pretoria. Coming to this game Cameroon should already have the three points from their previous match up, while Denmark will most likely still be at zero and playing their last card in the World Cup competition. The two countries are fighting for the second qualifying position behind the Netherlands, thus making the match against each other the most important of the whole tournament. And even though Cameroon has the advantage today, things can make a full 360 degree turn after the final whistle.

If Denmark wins in Pretoria they will automatically pass Cameroon on the group standings: when there is a point tie the overall goal difference and match result between the two teams pushes the winner up. Also the last game of the group stage is definitely easier for Denmark playing against Japan, while Cameroon needs to win against World Cup favourites the Netherlands, and maybe even a victory will not be enough. Basically today’s winner will most likely advance to the second round, and despite Cameroon coming with a 3 point advantage everything is still up for grabs.

There are various scenarios to consider and all the above could be irrelevant in the case that Cameroon or Denmark have different results in their first World Cup matches. One thing is certain though, today’s game is the most important in the whole competition for the two opponents since they both have similar goals (at least during the group stage). But don’t completely count out Japan, in the year 2010 the difference between these three football teams is very very small and anything could happen in a World Cup.
