The Netherlands is a country located in north western Europe, and is part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (which also includes Aruba and the Antilles in the Caribbean). The Netherlands is often mistaken as Holland, when North and South Holland are actually two of the 12 provinces. The population of the Netherlands is roughly 16 million people, and approximately 2 million live in the capital and largest city Amsterdam. The Dutch football team has qualified for the Fifa World Cup 9 times so far, and has reached two consecutive World Cup finals in 1974 and 1978. The Netherlands are starting the group phase playing against Cameroon, Japan and Denmark in Group E of the tournament.
