Steven Gerrard got injured yesterday during the first practice of the English national football team in Austria for the last stage of preparation before the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Gerrard was injured in his right leg and back, now England’s coach Fabio Capello is worried that the worst could happen.
Steven Gerrard’s very first World Cup 2010 practice with his national team only lasted 30 seconds, and right after the incident took place the whole medical team came to the rescue. Gerrard was hit in the upper right leg and lower back, and the detailed results of his injury will be available this Friday. England’s head doctor said that Gerrard’s injury is nothing serious, and hopefully everything will be just fine with the player missing a few days of practice but coming back on time for the World Cup 2010 in South Africa.
Coach Fabio Capello is definitely worried for the 30 year old Liverpool player, a team member he simply cannot afford to lose at this point. Capello doesn’t even want to think what will happen if Steven Gerrard misses the 2010 World Cup finals, so he is crossing his fingers while hoping for the best. Earlier this year England lost David Beckham due to an injury, so adding another superstar player to the injury list will send the whole team off track for the road to the World Cup trophy this summer.
