More problems for the organisers of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa since the Colombian national team has apparently been robbed during their short stay in the host country. Colombia came to South Africa for a friendly match against the host nation, and fell victim of robbery from the hotel personnel where the players are staying.
The South African police announced that the Colombian football team was robbed during practice, when someone entered their hotel rooms and took money and other valuable possessions. The police officer in charge said that two hotel employees have been already arrested, and a third one that was initially held has been released after being questioned. More investigations regarding this incident are under way.
The robbery occurred in the southern part of Johannesburg, and at the exact same hotel were Slovenia is staying during the World Cup 2010 in South Africa. This comes after months of reassuring that the host country is a safe place and the appropriate measures have been taken to ensure a hassle-free tournament this summer.
