Beckham to miss World Cup

David Beckham missing World CupDavid Beckham’s dream to participate in another World Cup tournament seems to be fading away after getting injured yesterday playing for Italian club Milan. The celebrated football player had expressed his concerns last week saying that he only had 90 days to prove himself in the Italian league, and he was uncertain for his future in the English national team. Beckham was ready to give 100% to ensure playing for England this summer, but now it looks like he will miss the finals because of a serious injury at the Achilles tendon. In the last few minutes of last night’s game against Chievo he left the field in terrible pain even though his team had no more substitutions. If the problem in his injured tendon is very serious he could stop playing football all together according to the team’s doctor, and his chances of going to South Africa are slim to none even if the injury is not that bad. According to sources the 34 year old player will go to Finland this week to be operated and he will need a minimum of 3 months before being able to run, and maybe 5 or 6 months to start kicking a ball around again. His AC Milan team-mates and coach said that Beckham was really sad and was apparently seen crying in the locker rooms after the game.

Below is a YouTube video on the moment of the injury.
