Fabio Capello will be announcing tomorrow the initial team selection for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, and by June 1st the official World Cup team roster for England must be decided. Gareth Barry of Manchester City got injured yesterday, and could miss the World Cup tournament this summer since the doctors are saying that the player will need a minimum of three to four weeks to fully recover.

Despite Barry’s injury everyone is optimistic in England, and for the first time in many years the team has been labeled as one of the favourites to win their second World Cup trophy. But coach Capello is trying to put the tones down a bit, while still having a positive view of England’s future. “After the draw everybody said that things are easy for us, this is a big mistake thinking that just because we are England our group will be an easy one,” says Capello.

England is playing in Group C for the 2010 World Cup this summer, against the United States, Algeria and Slovenia. All three opponents seem unable to threaten this England team, but can definitely create problems and unpleasant surprises according to Fabio Capello: “The United States always do great in the World Cup, and during the last Confederations Cup they beat Spain. They certainly deserve our respect, and many of their players have played in the Premier League. Slovenia took down Russia in the World Cup qualifying season, that is considered a superb team. And Algeria left Egypt out of the World Cup, on a recent friendly match at Wembley stadium we had a really hard time winning against them (England won by 2-1). All teams in our group are very organised and have a few exceptional players.”
