Fabio Capello and the Football Association put an end to the scenarios that want him replacing José Mourinho and coming to Inter, but instead the Italian manager is staying with England for at least another two years. The Football Association officially announced that the 63 year old coach will be staying with England until 2012, while removing an option from his contract allowing either Capello or the FA to terminate the deal after the World Cup 2010 in South Africa.
“We are very happy to continue working with Fabio Capello for another two years, and it is great we came to an agreement before the team leaves for the World Cup 2010 in South Africa. Now we can all focus on the upcoming tournament. Fabio as well as all players have our full support,” said the Premier League Chairman Sir Dave Richards.
Capello also expressed his satisfaction for the agreement that secures the manager position in England all the way until the Euro 2012: “I am very happy and I would like to thank Sir Dave Richards and the Football Association for their continuous support and guarantees. I always wanted to stay until the end of my contract, now we are focusing 100% on the World Cup 2010 in South Africa.”
