Slovenia is a small country located in Central Europe, and was part of Yugoslavia until 1991. With just over 2 million inhabitants, Slovenia is one of the smallest nations to qualify for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. The capital and largest city of Slovenia is Ljubljana with half a million inhabitants, and other important cities include Maribor, Celje and Kranj. Up until 1992 Slovenian players played for the Yugoslavia national football team (that has participated 8 times in the World Cup), so this will be only the second time Slovenia will participate in the competition under that name. Slovenia will be playing in Group C and going against England, Algeria and USA.
