Group G is definitely the hardest group of the World Cup, with two amazing teams that are not only planning to advance to the next round, but go all the way and win the trophy. So the battle in Group G really will be for the first place, and at the same time a preview and test of strength before the knock out phase. Five time world champions Brazil do not need a special introduction. If you are interested in the World Cup tournament you already know that Brazil is always one of the favourites to be celebrating at the end basically every time they have participated, which is in every World Cup competition ever, the only football team to claim that record. Any other outcome but another triumph will be simply considered a failure.
Portugal on the other hand had a really hard time qualifying to the tournament, but you better believe the team will be 100% ready coming to South Africa. Anything can happen in the World Cup, especially when you have in your roster the best football player in the world. Cristiano Ronaldo is the kind of player that can win games by himself, and the whole Portugal team believes that their time to shine has finally come after missing quite a few opportunities in the last decade.
Group G is completed by North Korea and Ivory Coast. Not much to say here really except maybe good luck! Côte d’Ivoire surprised the whole world with their incredible run in the 2006 World Cup and the team has shown signs of big improvement, but the 2 favourites of the group are just too strong and determined to give away one of the magic tickets. Playing in front of an African crowd is also a plus, if Ivory Coast was playing in another group they would have had a great chance of advancing to the second round where anything goes.
