Ghana (which means Warrior King) is a country in West Africa that got its independence from the United Kingdom in 1957. Ghana has a population of 23 million people, and English is the only official language. The capital and largest city of Ghana is Accra, with around three million inhabitants. Ghana is the 2nd largest producer of cocoa worldwide and one of its many attraction is the largest artificial lake in the world Lake Volta. Before gaining its independence, the Ghana national football team was called Gold Coast, nowadays it is known as their nickname the Black Stars. Ghana participated in the Fifa World Cup for the first time in 2006, and managed to reach the 13th place. Ghana is playing in Group D against Germany, Serbia and Australia.
