Group D may seem easy at first, especially for Germany, but I can almost guarantee it will not be a walk in the park for the 3 time World Cup champions. And if at the previous World Cup hosted on German soil they were one of the favourites, four years later in South Africa it will be a whole new game. But one thing is certain, Germany will qualify to the next round one way or another.
And that leaves us with one spot for three more or less equal football teams. Ghana will participate in the tournament for the second consecutive time, and in 2006 they surprised everybody when the team managed to advance past the group stage and into the second round. The last few years Ghana has made a tremendous effort in all levels, even winning the most improved team of the year award in 2005, and now they are coming in even stronger almost undefeated in the qualifying round.
This is Serbia’s first appearance as an independent nation in the World Cup, but as a direct descended of the Yugoslavian national football team they have a lot of experience and quite bit of history in the tournament (10 appearances total). Nobody can question the talent that has come from Serbia throughout the years, and their superb run in their qualifying section speaks for itself.
Australia is probably the outsider of Group D, but they will definitely put up a fight for the second spot against their weaker opponents. The Australian football team is hungry for success, they qualified first in their group without losing a game and only allowing one goal. They are aiming high in this tournament and the whole country is behind them.
