The biggest sporting event of the year, the 2010 FIFA World Cup kicks off this summer on June 11 in South Africa. This celebration of football has already started from Zurich on September 21 2009, with the official World Cup Trophy tour visiting all 5 continents and 83 different countries overall. Football fans can visit FIFA’s Trophy Tour website that is sponsored by Coca Cola, and use the interactive map to see where the World Cup trophy currently is. Pictures, Videos, news and even widgets are available directly on the website so people are able to follow every minute and every destination visited by the World Cup trophy.
The tour passes the message of friendship and brotherly love for all people and aims to bring awareness of the various problems in the African continent. To further support this goal the Coca-Cola Africa Foundation was created, hoping to increase the overall quality of life for our fellow Africans. Coca Cola has already helped over half a million children in Africa by providing fresh water to many different public schools and organisations. Bringing the trophy to each nation is also like bringing the spirit of friendship, an innovative idea that uses football as its main vehicle.
