Jimmy Jump (or Jaume Marquet Cot) is the most famous pitch invader / streaker in the world, and according to a recent interview he is now getting ready to jump during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa! Jimmy Jump is a Catalan real estate agent for the biggest part of the year, but occasionally he likes to invade various sporting events around the globe - from football, to tennis and even the Olympic games. And now his next target is South Africa and the 2010 World Cup finals this summer.
The eccentric pitch invader has managed to convert his hobby into a full time profession over the years, Jimmy Jump has his own website www.jimmyjump.com, and is currently taking time off work to practice in the mountains and make sure he will be able to jump over the tough security during the World Cup competition.
“I am ready to travel to South Africa and the 2010 World Cup! For the time being I am getting myself prepared and practice climbing mountains. My goal is to invade one of the games and send an anti-racist message for all South African people. David Villa will participate too, I want to approach him in the pitch and make him wear the red hat. He will be playing for Barcelona anyways next season.”
It’s been always about Barcelona with Jimmy Jump, his favourite football team. Who can forget the 2004 European championship final game between Greece and Portugal, when Jimmy Jump invaded the pitch and threw a Barcelona flag in the face of Luís Figo (that had recently left the team to join their biggest rival Real Madrid). Two years later Jimmy Jump threw a Barcelona jersey to Thierry Henry while still playing for Arsenal, and the next year the player made the jump to Spain and actually moved to Barca.
Jimmy Jump is currently looking for sponsors to further finance his jumps during the 2010 World Cup. He will also be part of a new documentary called Jump! The World’s Greatest Streakers, and you can get more information on the website www.streakerfilm.com.
Below are some videos of Jimmy Jump from his famous pitch invasions around the world. Nest stop South Africa and the 2010 World Cup!
