Group B is definitely one of the toughest ones to predict in the World Cup finals, so we need to break it down into separate categories. Starting from Argentina, the football team that will most likely qualify and continue to the next round. Argentina has the experience (this is their 15th appearance in the tournament and 10th straight), has the history (the team always moves past the group stage) and have gone further than any other team in the group (Argentina has won the trophy twice, and went all the way to the final another two times). Argentina also has the star players and of course the star coach, Diego Maradona is the country’s most celebrated football personality and inspiration.
At the bottom of Group B most likely we will find the team of South Korea. Yes they are the most successful football team in Asia, participating in the World Cup for the eighth time and seven times in a row since 1986. Yes they have reached the semi finals once as a host nation in 2002. But it seems they just don’t have what it takes to make it through this time, playing against some really strong opponents that are hungry for victory.
So basically the biggest fight in Group B will be made between Greece and Nigeria, with both teams having equal advantage to qualify for the round of 16. Nigeria has qualified for four World Cups and they will have the support of the African fans. Greece will be playing for the second time in the tournament and have never had a victory or even scored a goal. But when in 2004 the Greek football team went to play in the Fifa Euro Cup again for just the 2nd time and again without a victory, they somehow managed to stun the world and win it all establishing themselves as a new and upcoming power. If both Nigeria and Greece beat South Korea and lose to Argentina, that leaves us with the obvious conclusion that the match between them on June 17 2010 will be the most important game of Group B.
