Switzerland is a land locked country located in Central Europe, right in the heart of the continent. Switzerland has around 8 million inhabitants, and the largest city is Zürich, a metropolitan area with population of about 1.5 million people. The capital of Switzerland is Bern, and the four official languages of the country are German, French, Italian and Romansh (a Latin dialect spoken by occupiers of the Roman period). Switzerland is one of the wealthiest countries in the world and is home to many international organisations such as the Red Cross, Olympic committee and WTO. Other important cities in Switzerland are Geneva, Basel, Lausanne and Lugano. The Swiss football team will be participating in the Fifa World Cup for the 9th time since 1934. So far the Swiss have earned no major trophy, but hoping to make something great out of the World Cup 2010 in South Africa. Switzerland in the first round will face Latin trio Spain, Honduras and Chile in Group H of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
