10 fans travelling from Argentina today were denied entrance to South Africa and during the entire World Cup 2010. The consulate of Argentina in South Africa made an official announcement regarding the incident saying that a total of 80 fans arrived in Johannesburg but just 10 of them are being forced to head back home by South African authorities.
The 10 fans already had a record in Argentina, and were considered as dangerous and prone to causing violent acts during the World Cup 2010 finals. The Argentinian hooligans had all spent time in jail for vandalism, and one of them even has an open case and was out on bail for murder. The hooligans spent last night in custody and were supposed to be released today and immediately sent back to Argentina.
“Common sense is drawing us to the conclusion that these people would most likely cause trouble during the World Cup 2010,” said the police representative. “They would probably get into fights with other fans and create public disturbance or hooliganism, this is why we are sending them back to Buenos Aires right away.”
The hooligans had tickets for the opening game of Argentina versus Nigeria that is talking place on Saturday June 12 in Johannesburg.
