Ivory Coast or Côte d’Ivoire as it is its official name, is a country located in West Africa. French is the only official language, and there are around 18 million people in the country. The capital of Côte d’Ivoire is Yamoussoukro, but the largest city (and former capital) is Abidjan with almost 3 million inhabitants. In 2006 Ivory Coast qualified for the FIFA World Cup for the first time, marking South Africa their second appearance on the World Cup finals stage for the football team. Ivory Coast is playing in Group G and competing against Brazil, Portugal and North Korea.
