Flag of SerbiaSerbia is a country located in the center of the Balkans in South East Europe, and it used to be part of Yugoslavia. Serbia is landlocked and it borders 8 different European countries. Serbia has a population of 7 million people, and almost half live in the capital and largest city Belgrade (3,2 million inhabitants). Other important cites in Serbia are Novi Sad, Niš, Kragujevac and Subotica. The Serbian football team is the direct descendant of the Yugoslavian national football team, and therefore has participated 8 times in the World Cup as such. It has also qualified another 2 times as Serbia and Montenegro, and the South Africa 2010 World Cup will be the first time the football team will play as Serbia. The Serbian team will go against Germany, Ghana and Australia in the group stage with all four teams playing at Group D.
